Checklist: Make paper receipts a thing of the past
It may be Halloween, but this is no time to be staring at spikes of receipts.
2020 has been a challenging year, but with a couple of months left now is the ideal time to make sure your accounts are in shape and your business hits 2021 running.
We've all been there. Receipts falling from the van, spikes of faded paper you keep meaning to run through, but always put off... Now's the time to get on top of the paper and optimise your business account.
It doesn't have to take long. Just completing a few quick steps will save you hours if not days of admin and leave you in great shape for your next financial deadline.
Make those receipts vanish and get peace of mind with our 6-point checklist:
[✔] Log into your Amaiz app
If you haven't got your account fully set up, start your trial today. You'll get full access to all the account features as soon as you're accepted.
[✔] Set a notification schedule
Under your bookkeeping settings, you can set a custom schedule to check your books. Create a reminder, how often you want that reminder, and automate items you want to remain on your backlog list.
[✔] Check your backlog
On your statement screen, you'll see the outstanding items in your backlog. If there's anything that needs a little more input from you, it just takes a couple of taps to upload a receipt or set an expense category.
[✔] Set up your direct debits
Set up direct debits to come straight from your business account. You can see what's coming up in the app, and all the transactions will be picked up and categorised in your statement.
[✔] Make sure you are invoice ready
Customise your invoices in the app, track their progress, receive a notification when the payment lands in your account.
[✔] Automate your Jar account
You're on top of your records, but what about paying a tax bill? Your Jar account is there to store money. Move funds across at any time or even better: set a percentage that’s transferred automatically from any incoming payment.
[✔] Keep up to speed with Making Tax Digital
The HMRC expects every business to be working toward digital records. Find out what it is and how it affects you by bookmarking to the Amaiz Journal.
Complete the checklist, and you won't need to worry about receipts disappearing, at Halloween or any time of year.
